The Harvey Canal Industrial Association was founded in 1946 by and for companies along the Harvey Canal for the purpose of increasing business. Today HCIA is an association consisting of companies not only along the Harvey Canal, but companies located in several parishes on the west and east banks of the Mississippi River throughout the metropolitan area.
The HCIA Board of Directors work hard to be the voice of the business community and is dedicated to support, improve and protect the interests of its membership and the Harvey Canal Industrial Corridor Throughout its long history the HCIA played a key role in many successful projects. The HCIA was instrumental in the construction of the Harvey Tunnel, the elevated West Bank Expressway, construction of the Algiers Canal and worked diligently for flood control (SELA funding) as well as Hurricane protection projects along the Harvey Canal.
The HCIA holds monthly membership luncheon meetings on the first Thursday of each month and sponsors annual events such as Trade Show, Golf Tournament, Crawfish Boil and Annual Presidents Gala.
